It is not surprising to see so many real weapons... looking and sounding like video game guns...

Thebottom line always comes down to affordability... and guns in general always get cheaper.

What? Only $500 for it... damn... that is cheap... and their ACR rifle... $2,219... woah... there goes my next paycheck...
ACR's go for about $1500 around here. I've actually been saving money up since last June for a new gun. Between that, and whatever I get back on my tax return, I should have more than enough for a new family member. Either that or a new truck.

As far as I'm aware, Bushmaster is expanding the ACR line up, and I think Remington might have stopped producing them after they filled their contracts (which wasn't too many).

There really wasn't all that much at Shot 2019 that got me excited.

Kind of a big letdown.

You're saying that you got a licensed dealer who'll export the rifle for you?

What model are you looking for?

Sportsman's Warehouse:

Start there. They've got a promo for 2 free mags and scope base.

Edit: it would appear that the links that I posted have the lowest prices, outside of buying off of something like GunBroker (EBay for guns).

The all black and FDE models are the cheapest ones, with wood furniture being another $100 or more. The Commiefornia and New Jack City models cost more as well.

Also, that promotion for the 2 free magazines and scope mount ends this March 31st. You can also purchase a Vortex scope or red dot sight at discounted price on that promo card as well.for

I'm not sure what kind of magazine capacity laws you got in NZ, so double check what mags you're getting with that promo.

Other than that, good luck!

Edit 2:
If you don't have an exporter lined up, you should definitely do so before buying the rifle.

I found this website:

They're a company out of Washington state that specializes in imports/exports from the US/Canada/UK/Australia/New Zealand.

wont be getting one anymore, government is banning all semi-auto rifles that can take a detachable mag (thats only 99.99999999999999% of them)
i have to hand in my rifles on a government buyback scheme, for "fair" market prices (yeah right)
hope they realize that a genuine colt m16a1 (not ar-15) with all original parts and registered as an actual a-cat rifle is beyond priceless (in NZ), they wont
also all accessories such as rail systems and hi-cap mags
guess good news is ill be looking at between $20000-$30000 possibly depending on their definition of 'fair" market prices.

That sucks man. I didn't want to say anything because of the incident, but I can't help but feel that the government reacted too quickly. Also, by banning certain guns, they're basically giving in to terrorism.

Just my two cents.

they did and they are, unfortunately our current government literally has about a combined 2 years of real world life experience between all of them
jacinda (our prime minister who has never lived in the real world, been a career trough snouter from a young age, starting out in the young socialist party, and her only real world experience is a part time job at a fish and chip shop when she was 16 which she spent about 3 weeks or months at, cant remember which) has given any terrorist group exactly what they want when they commit these atrocities. recognition, constant interruption of daily life (many events cancelled or moved, including a annual hippie street fest moving to an inside area!!) and the clamp down/change/suspicion/turn on each other or groups of people/etc of ordinary citizens
stuart nash the current police minister has been trying to get rid of firearms his entire life, he couldnt wait to jump on this

they so niave i dont get it. she announced same day they will be banning semi-autos and will be taking all of our rifles. in which is basically a "hurry up and commit your atrocity cause soon you wont be able to" and no-one else has, because we arent all pyscho hate mongering murderers duhh
we have till september 30 to hand in our guns lawfully so theres 5 months to commit an attack but no one will
only law abiding normal citizens who would never do this will hand in their rifles
gangs have already said to national news orgs that they wont, and any scum who would do what that ahole did wont
so as usual they are only cracking down on the normal law abiding citizen, exactly what the terrorists want.

also very much worth pointing out that nz'ers are having their rifles taken away and basically being told we are just a bunch of red neck psychos when it was an australian that commited the atrocity
we had many articles on national news sites from ivory tower morons about "all nzers are racist hate mongers" yeah did you forget in your rabid rant that it was an aussie not a kiwi? or "see told you this would happen cause all gun owners are psychos" this was from some academic whos justification for her article is over ten years ago she wrote an article calling for the ban of firearms (all) and she got 12 angry letters about it so that proves her point that we are all complete psychos. she also for some reason pointed out that they were all males and put in brackets "well atleast they all had male sounding names" well that gives away her particular bias doesnt it.
also theres over 260,000 registered firearm licence holders in nz and 12 people wrote a letter, so 0.0046% speak for the rest of us?? 0.0046% is enough to smear a whole group of people?

ive tried talking to the police about higher grade licence or ways i may be able to keep my m16 as its very valuable and collectable but if theres any group in nz thats knows the least about firearms its the nz police, i havnt been able to talk to an actual firearms officer yet but the last person i inquired to about my "colt m16a1" they didnt even know what i was talking about sigh

I don't know how your laws work, but isn't there a way to appeal your case to the courts or parliament?

no, once its law its law till another government changes it, which will be too late
they are not taking any consultation either public or professional and are rushing this law through as fast as they can, they want them gone and are not interested in even talking about it.
theres a petition with over 15000 sigs requesting a reasonable time for consultation, being our population is 4mill total thats a pretty hefty amount, have heard nothing from the government about it
public summissions close tonight at 6pm

I'm at a loss for words.

I can't really comment any further without going off on a rant, so I guess we'll end it here.

Nonetheless, good luck.

ok so its pretty much over, all semi-auto rifles with detachable mag banned in nz. still no actual rules set out yet even our police have nothing from the government on it (labour + greens = complete fucking morons who wouldnt know the real world even if it waltzed up to them kneed them square in the nuts and said hi im the real world) and no word still on "fair market value" for the buy back ofcourse.
i may be able to save my m16a1 as i have a case to apply for a collectors licence due to the historical value being a 1970s rifle and ex NZSAS. but even if i get it i have to disable the rifle (not permanently thank god just have to keep a critical component at a separate location such as firing pin or bolt etc) but i will never ever ever ever be allowed to fire it again :(😢😢😢😢😢 ever, well untill the ZA then im sure ill be allowed
there is no guarantee ill get it though.
atleast if i do get it ill actually be allowed to replace the semi only lower with a proper m16a1 select fire lower.

so i need some help. i know nothing about civilian rifles, nothing. once i get my money for the semis i have to hand in ill be buying some bolt actions. id love a l96a1 and once our army replaces them with the barrett mrad there might be an opportunity to buy one but whats a good civilian model bolt action rifle thats reasonably priced? ill stick to 308 as its relatively cheap round (haha no way it is but waaaaay cheaper than any of the wild cat rounds) and also due to being a very common round its a standard stocked shelf item at local gun shops.

or maybe ill just move to texas or somewhere..................

Anything in particular that you're looking for? Can you still own ANY guns that accept detachable magazines?

Here are a few ideas:

Ruger American Hunter in .308 Winchester:

Ruger Scout Rifle in .308 Winchester:

Mossberg MVP Scout in .308:

Troy PAR-15 (pump action AR-15) in .223 Remington:

if you're serious about getting a .308 bolt action, the Mossberg MVP is probably a better choice than the Rugers.

The .308 Winchester MVP rifles can use M14/M1A mags and or SR-25/DPMS mags. They're crazy cheap and they get good reviews.

Option B is the pump action Troy PAR-15. It's a pump action AR-15 that takes standard AR15/M16 magazines. It's chambered in .223 Remington, so you can't shoot 5.56mm through it, as far as I know.

yeah can own detachable mag bolt actions, just detachable mag semis that are banned. i could own a sks due to its duckbill mag but personally think they junk. or a m1 garand but ill never get one of those in nz.
that mossberg MVP looks pretty sweet, do they do a full size version? ie 20inch barrel? dont hunt so dont need carbine rather have a full size rifle. cant find any in new zealand though :( dont know what our import rules will be like now either
might get my pistol licence since hand guns dont seem to be considered as "dangerous" like the super evil little black rifle.............
i looked at some lever actions, i like me some good ol cowboy guns in 45-70 but they crazy expensive here

edit: oh the site that the mossberg links too says they discontinued?
